About Sera Kalo
Her Caribbean heritage, classical and jazz vocal style gives Sera Kalo a truly genre-crossing and unorthodox approach to her interpretation of popular music. Sera released her future soul debut album, "Good Life" with Seraleez in 2016 on Agogo Records. Soon after, she completed and released a collaborative work of downtempo bass music entitled, "Inner Space" with Hubrist and Deep Locus Records in 2017. Ms. Kalo has appeared on over 11 albums produced in Germany and Asia. She was born and raised in Connecticut, has toured in the USA and Europe and just debuted her latest live project with Hip Hop/Tropical Bass producer, Cara Muru. She has recently released 4 singles, "Serenity" and "Riddle" (solo) along with "No No Never" and "Let Me Know" from her sophomore album with Seraleez entitled, "So Precious".
Sera Kalo began pursuing her love for music at the tender age of 7. With the initial goal of being a classical pianist, Sera studied classical piano for 12 years before exploring her vocal talent. After finding inspiration in the powerful voices of legends like Etta James, Nina Simone and Carmen McRae, Sera dedicated her studies in New York with a focus on classical singing, musical theater, blues, and vocal jazz.
Sera Kalo has not only found her voice as a singer, but also as a songwriter. As a deeply reflective person and an empowerment community organizer, Sera uses intimate musical soundscapes and poetic storytelling to spread joy to her listeners and encourage consciousness and honesty.
